Taliban Attack In Afghanistan 22 Policemen Dead
In the southern Afghan province of Kandahar, 22 policemen were killed on Tuesday in a series of attacks by Taliban in more than a dozen search posts. More than 15 policemen were injured in the attacks that lasted for more than six hours.
Officials said the government forces killed 45 rebels and injured 35 people during the attacks last night. The rebels did not take possession of one of the checkpoints of the police, they said. Kandahar police chief spokesman Zia Durrani said, "Our forces are prevented until the support of additional troops and air strikes are reached."
Taliban told reporters through WhatsApp that they killed 43 people and destroyed 13 armored vehicles in police and civilian forces. But rebels often say the number of casualties increased, according to Reuters reports.
